After these have all been written in correctly, play them all, many times over.
The student should now be prepared to employ the Second Inversion in the harmonization of some given Basses. In these Basses First Inversions should also be employed. Bass notes not marked will be Roots of Chords as usual: notes marked x will be Thirds of Chords, indicating the use of the First Inversion: notes marked
 will be Fifths of Chords, indicating the use of the Second Inversion.First of all we append a short exercise for analysis by the student. Each Chord is numbered, and upon the corresponding numbered line following the exercise let the student write out just what each chord is, in the manner given for No. 1.
